Leadership, Experience, and Vision

Dan Rice is a dedicated project manager in the green energy industry, bringing a results-driven approach to sustainability, responsible growth, and smart city planning. With a master’s degree and experience working across multiple disciplines throughout his career, he has developed a strong ability to adapt, problem-solve, and drive successful outcomes—skills that will serve Glens Falls well.

Before transitioning into project management, Dan was an educator, working with special needs children and as an elementary classroom teacher. His experience in education gave him firsthand insight into the challenges facing students, families, and teachers, reinforcing his commitment to strong schools and community support systems.

As a former member and chairman of the Glens Falls Zoning Board of Appeals, Dan has worked to ensure responsible development that balances progress with preserving the character of our city. His leadership also extended to the Board of the World Awareness Children's Museum, where he previously served as a board member, helping to promote global education and cultural enrichment for local youth. Additionally, Dan served as treasurer of the Kensington Road Elementary School PTA and co-treasurer of the Glens Falls After-Prom committee, demonstrating his commitment to our children, local schools, and fiscal responsibility.

An outdoor enthusiast and former marathon runner, Dan spent 25 years as a rafting guide on the Upper Hudson River, fostering teamwork and resilience and garnering a deep understanding of the north country's tourism economy. He has also been an active volunteer, previously working with the Open-Door Mission’s backpack program to provide food for underprivileged schoolchildren, ensuring no child in the community goes hungry.

Dan is proud to call Glens Falls home and has a deep love for its residents, history, and the unique character that makes it special. Originally moving to the area in 1997, he has watched Glens Falls blossom into the vibrant, thriving city it is today. He appreciates all that makes Glens Falls great—its tight-knit neighborhoods, lively events, incredible restaurants, houses of worship, and bustling downtown. He is committed to ensuring that the city continues on this path of progress, sustainability, and smart development while preserving its charm and community spirit.

Having lived in multiple states across our diverse and beautiful country before settling in northern New York to raise his family, Dan brings a broad perspective while maintaining deep roots in Glens Falls, where he owns a home with his spouse, an occupational therapist, and their two amazing and talented daughters, both of whom are students on the high honor roll at Glens Falls High School.
